What is kahoot?
Kahoot is a collection of specific question on a topic in a quiz format where one side creates a quiz while the other side participates on their own technological device (smartphone, tablet, laptop, etc.) answering questions asked and receiving points through correct answers. It is an easy, fun way to get students excited about taking a formative assessed quiz while also providing the teacher with information of the knowledge of content from students.
Kahoot and Danielson
Kahoot clearly falls under Domain 1 of planning and preparation under component 1E because it is one of many other ways to assess students on their pre-knowledge of a content area or post-knowledge. Typically Kahoot is used as a type of formative assessment because students are required to answer the questions under a certain time limit and within teacher control. Kahoot could be a good assessment tool for students in the middle of learning a new concept so teachers can track their progress.
Kahoot and samr model
Using Kahoot in a classroom falls under the "M" (modification) of the SAMR model. The reason Kahoot could be described as modification is because the use of this technology replaces another type of formative assessment that is used that does not use any type of technology.
