What does it mean?
This component focuses on communicating with families. Families are not physically a part of the learning that goes on in the classroom but they play a huge role in all the work that goes home every night. Families are going to want to know how their son or daughter is doing in school so keeping them in the loop is a must.
This is important because parents want and deserve to know how their child is doing in school. For example, if their child is performing poorly and they do not have any ideas and the child needs help, they will have no way of knowing that their child is struggling and might need outside help.

Artifacts
Remind101: This tool is beneficial for both students and the parents at home because it first lets the student know what is needing to be done while also providing the families with information on what their child is doing at school and the expectations that follow.
Monthly Newsletter: Teachers could send out a monthly newsletter of things that the students are learning about in class. The students could be involved in the creation of the newsletter and the parents could enjoy this because it is a less formal way to know what is going on in the class as a whole.
