what is canva?
Canva is a free graphic design website where anyone can make professional posters, cards, invitations, letterhead, etc. Canva is a great resources for teachers because they can use it from instruction to management for students. The specific use that I visited Canva for was to make a digital poster for a virtual cooperating teacher that I have been in contact with for the past few weeks.
Canva is a very easy tool to use and creating this poster was no difficult task. There are many different features that the website include: first choosing a background, then determining the perfect font from a long list, and finally determining which shapes and images would work best. After talking to my cooperating teacher, she asked me to create a simple poster that included the words, "Work Work, Reading, and Writing" where students would use clothespins with their names on them to clip which literacy station that they were visiting.

canva and danielson
As stated above, Canva has many uses in the classroom but the most beneficial and useful way to value Canva to its fullest potential would be to display certain expectations and rules around the classrooms. To make a poster, it takes no time at all for the most basic design but if the teacher creates eye-catching and engaging posters that display classroom rules, the students will take notice of the posters.
An application of Component 2D under Danielson that enhances student behavior is that the teacher and students at the beginning of the year could create goals for behavior for the entire class and the whole class with the guidance of the teacher could create an expectations poster-- which fits under one of the main elements within the component. This would be helpful because the students would be helping create the poster which makes them more responsible for the statements listed on the poster.

Canva and Samr Model
Canva is a perfect tool that teachers could use within the SAMR (Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition) Model. In the every updated and progress technological world, resources that were used 5 years ago are being replaced with pieces of technology, such as poster making. This tool specifically could fall under multiple components of SAMR. For teachers, the could make a poster substituting a poster that they made by hand. For students, making a poster could fall under modification because students could display a project or information that they learned and then present it to their entire class.
Canva and the 4 c's
The 4 C's framework help students further understand content that is being learned in the classroom through the use of technology. Canva specifically engages the collaborative and creative elements of the framework. Students can collaborate and all work on one document when they are not together. This can be helpful if one student needs to edit a page that wasn't finished from before. Canva also sparks the creative side of students because students can have free reign to design a poster in anyway they want but staying within the teachers guidances.
all things canva
I am very excited that I was introduced to the website Canva. I am all about creative new and engaging ways to create visuals for students. Canva is a great tool for teachers because they can use the site to create these so called posters and documents where students can use it for visual displays and projects. It is quick, easy, and very accessible for all types of students and also a fabulous way to integrate technology within the classroom.
