what does it mean?
Component 4D of Danielson focuses on participating in the professional community and what that means is teachers engaging in the community of other educators to grow in relationship with them and to also look to experienced teachers as a means to grow in their knowledge of teaching and learning about successful strategies to use in the classroom.
This component is important for teachers to implement because teachers should constantly be looking to other people who are making positive success in teaching. Professional development is an element of the job of teaching that many schools require and through that development, teachers can create and further relationships with colleagues as a support system. It is also important for teachers to be learning what is new in the education world to benefit their school that they are working in and their students in their classroom from year to year.

Professional Development Conferences: Organizations, such as Kappa Delta Pi, hold conferences all around the countries and sometimes schools require teachers so get a certain number of hours of PD. These could be good to grow relationships with colleagues as well as learning new things for an individual teacher.
Community Involvement: It is important for a teacher to establish themselves in the community outside of the classroom and that can look different in many ways. Some examples of community involvement include supporting students in extracurriculars, coaching a sports team, etc.
